...So, do you guys prefer used stuff from B&H or new items?

I rarely buy used, but it's definitely a good way to save some money - especially when buying from a reputable business with a good return policy.

I primarily buy from a local source, a company that specializes in catering to the professional photographer.

Yeah I know I can get stuff a little cheaper from the likes of B&H and other online vendors but I get something from the local supplier that I cannot get online or on the phone, and that is personal service and great service at that.

They have a staff that is fantastic with different staff members specializing in different areas.

Also, they LISTEN to their customers.

More often than not, the really " best deal " is not about purchase price.

Oh and they have a FANTASTIC Used Equipment department and return policy.

Additionally ----> RETURNS/EXCHANGES/REPAIRS go much smoother and faster when done in person as opposed to mailing/shipping.

I'm learning so much! Love it! :D

I prefer new but for a few basic items like tripod I figured used isn't bad and I saved some money. Lenses I prefer new unless I get a fantastic deal.

I'd gladly support a local shop if I had one like that. I don't mind paying a few extra bucks in exchange for the personal service you get from a local shop where they know you personally and take the extra step to make things right.

I purchase a majority of my equipment from Amazon.com, but only if it is sold by Amazon and not other vendors. But I am also an Amazon Prime Member, and get charged only 3.99 for overnight delivery.

I normally buy used gear from here on POTN or from FM. I've bought a few lenses off Amazon new though and they have provided very good service.
