I use mine almost exclusively when shooting still life and products. This has been posted elsewhere, but I thought it would fit here as well.

^^^ Awesome - wonderful light (and dark)! Can I ask - what kind of material was your back drop and how far away was it from the table? Mostly SOOC or did you have to set the blacklevel in post? I've had difficulty consistently achieving that deep black BG.

Congratulations! What a cutie.

Thanks! (And let the sleep deprivation begin!)

Thanks for you kind comments

The exposure from the studio flash and fills was carefully controlled to ensure that the full dynamic range of my camera sensor was used. If you get that right, there is very little PP needed. A full range of tones is recorded.

The background is a lastolite mottled brown, portrait background. It was 18 inches behind the main subject and was shielded from the flash by a large 'flag', and therefore darker than normal. A small amount of burning and vignetting was done in lightroom.

My camera is profiled, and therefore records very accurate colours and the full range of tones - I get pretty much what I see.

I hope that helps.

Wow, this thread is really quiet.

I traded my 45 tse for a 35L and I missed T&S so I picked up the 90mm. Still learning all the things about it.

From a couple of weeks ago

Nice Sonny!

Thanks, another one from the same shoot. This lens is really good for portrait. Manual focus is a bit tough without the focus screen but do-able on the 1ds mkii. When it hits focus, it's really sharp.

Good to see more voices in this thread!

My snack. (No, the WB isn't off! The tomatoes were orange, with one red thrown in for good measure.)
