Canon is probably never going to update the 50mm f1.8

The price of the 18-55 IS II didn't go up. The price of the 55-250mm II has not gone up (just released, and currently on sale for $150). The price of the 50 1.8 dropped when they dumbed it down to the current plastic fantastic. What evidence would lead you to believe that the price of the 50mm 1.8 III would double? :confused: Unless they completely redesigned the optics and improved the build, I just can't imagine this happening. Be more afraid of the current 50 1.8 slowly drifting upward.

I was more thinking of this. Wouldn't be too surprised if Canon R&D is now doing that instead of making 5D mk III or 1Ds IV :)
