Is Canon ever going to do anything exciting? There is never anything to talk about in terms of Canon news. Anyone else feel like all the innovation and excitement is happening everywhere but at our favorite brand?

I honestly have everything I need right now - I don't care about mirror-less cameras, so whatever the other manufacturers bring out leaves me cold. A new 5DIII would be nice, but I can still easily live with my trusted 5D classic.

You'll be bored if you don't do anything that excites you with your equipment.
But yes, I did get bored with my canon stuff too

I am perfectly satisfied with boring rather than exciting like having the lens fall off the body or lock up so it cannot be removed from the body

I'm satisfied with my equipment, so Canon is not boring because they aren't producing the "dream product that I have to have now." I do enjoy reading reviews and reading about new technology and such even when I have no intentions of ever purchasing or using it. In that aspect Canon is boring lately.

I would add "recently" to the statement. While it does seem that loads are happening with all the other brands except Canon, I'm sure when Canon starts announcing something, things will get exciting again.
The important thing is to continue taking exciting photos with the boring Canon, isn't it? ;)

DSLR wise, I'm perfectly content. At the very most I would enjoy an updated 50L.

But on the other hand, I would like a travel camera and I just cringe at the thought of using a P&S... So yes I would like a little excitement in the compact camera market from Canon.

They've been doing new and exciting things; maybe you've forgotten the introduction of " Toy Camera Effect" in the Powershot line earlier this year? What more could you possibly want?

If, by boring you mean, moves slower then other companies at upgrading products and implementing new technologies, then yes canon is at the back of the pack when were talking about the big boys in the industry.

of all the things rumored and wished for in these forums, none of those things would make me want it

what Canon has now is more than enough for me to do my job... and there's plenty out there that I have yet to put my hands on!

I can't really say I've been paying attention. I tend to only care when I actually need something.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

If you think Canon is behind, go sit around the Olympus campfire...... I have a wish list like most everyone does- but im still learning to master what I have now. I just remember back to technology wasn't as important as skill. The old film days...

I remember having fun with my old boring Minolta X-700 guess I was more concerned with the photography and less about it turning into a transformer
