Hey everybody! It's been quite a while since I actually made a thread. I recently cleared out everything I owned in my signature because I haven't been shooting for a couple months and I needed the funds.
Turns out that I now have funds again and I sincerely miss my camera and gear
I can't decide on what to get now. I am deciding between the 5DII again or a 7D. The 5DII was perfect when I had it with 3 primes. However, I don't think I can go back to the prime route. I am a bokeh whore, but I realized that owning primes caused me to shoot even less because I hated to lug around my 35, 85, and 135. I can never take out just one because I always find myself missing shots, and changing lenses became a hassle since I try to be super careful.

A 5DII with a 24-70L might be too short if this will be my only lens. Therefore, I am debating between:

5DII with 24-105L or
7D with 24-70L

What do you guys think? I would definitely appreciate some feedback from people! How would the bokeh from the 5DII/24-105L combo compare to the 7D/24-70L combo?

I barely shoot at anything over 135mm! Whichever combo/lens I choose will be a general walk around. I'll be shooting family and friends and anything interesting!

While I love the 24-70mm lens, I don't find it wide enough on the 7D and pair it with my 10-22mm. For a single lens walkaround for the 7D, look to something in the 17-50mm range (if you want f/2.8) or the 15-85mm if you want something more comparable to the 24-105mm's range.

Bodies: EOS 7D, Rebel XT/350D
Lenses: 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, 24-70mm f/2.8L, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS, 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS
Accessories: Speedlite 580EX II, Gitzo 1541T tripod, Markins Q3 Traveler ballhead

Personally, I don't know why you would buy a 7D unless you were going to shoot sports or other subjects that require lightning-fast autofocus and frame rate. For just about everything else, the 5D MKII seems the best bet. as for lenses, if you're only going to have one, then the wider the range the better, for flexibility, so the 24-105L gets my vote.

5D MK3, 7D, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, 24-70mm f/2.8L, 16-35mm f/2.8L, EF 1.4x TC MKIII, Nissin Di866 II, Nissin Di466
I hate being bipolar. It's great.

I'd go with the 5D2 and 24-105.

Now I am a little worried about the depreciation in price of the 5DII once the 5DIII comes out. If I were to buy the 5D Classic now, and sell it to pick up the 5DII once the Mark III comes out, I'll be losing money from reselling the Classic as well since it'll drop too. Either way I'll be losing money, or could have gotten the camera cheaper! Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

Don't be worried about that. Get what you need for the job. No date on the mkiii arrival.

A* for reading comprehension

I would find 24mm on a 7D way too restrictive, so I'd pick the 5DII + 24-105 any day over the 7D + 24-70.

But if you need better AF and a faster lens, and don't use wide angle much, then there's no reason not to get the 7D + 24-70, so you have to see what you shoot personally.

5D, 24-70 + 135L. Replace with Tamron 28-75 & Canon 100 F/2 if funds or weight/size are an issue.

I wish I shoot for a living. I am a full time college student and just want to capture memorable moments :D
