Took myself down to the drags last night, I love going but we just don't have many events here compared to you Americans.

Anyway I think I have jagged my best timed image I have ever have in this first one of Andrew Cowan. He didn't red light here, he nailed one of the fastest times in the country with this run.
I have a ton more to share from the day, but I just saw this as I am going through them now and had to show it off :D

Sorry for the noise, my 50D and ISO 1600 isn't really the best combo. 1/125th @ F/4.5 and I still had to up the exposure slider in DPP and give it a pretty good dose of noise reduction.

oh, that's Km/Hr of course! The scoreboard switches between mph and KM/hr. It's 326.7 MPH for you non metricated

Good shot, and that is a mighty quick run. Look forward to seeing some more when you get them sorted out.

Cheers Dave and Mr Pick.

?? you mean the NHRA guys are running 1/8th mile nowdays? What's the go with that?

here are a few more. It was a fairly grey day the day I went, and I was with the family, so didn't do much walking around, sorry for the repetitiveness, but thought instead I'd concentrate on keeping the shutter nice and low. Some more on my flickr page.

NHRA here in America run 1000 feet for Top Fuel and Fuel Funny Car, rather than the full 1320 foot quarter mile. It all happened after Scott Kalitta got killed three years ago. Safety thing.

Those are some really good pans at what look to be some pretty slow shutter speeds. Not sure if I get what you were going for on the 5th one, but I like the last one a lot. Also like the first two, it's interesting to see the different body styles being used in another country.

Good work!

Thanks for the feedback Mr pick. I was trying to get that small car big background pan type shot you see every now and again with some kind of pattern forming the background. There was a photo of rossi is Malaysia a while back I saw on here. He was a long way back from the bike, (much more than i was) super slow shutter, rossi was a sharp tiny bike in the image and the grandstand made a nice patterned background.

Thanks for the raps on the pans. I was down to 1/45th for some of them, esp when it got dark. the junior even slower I think, but I can't remember what it was now. I took a lot, missed a lot, but I love the practice. I do aircraft in the same way. My wife even had a go when it got dark at 1/45th and actually got a few as well!

I didn't post a lot of my top fueller shots as they are more the same, and pretty boring to be honest, so figured I'd put up body styles people may not see all the time.

I should have borrowed my bro in laws 24-105 too, the 100-400 was too much in most cases, and the poor nifty 50 just couldn't deal with all that speed!!!

yeah a few bikes, but not much, mainly street based, and only 3 or 4 top bikes ran.

I blew the pass of this bike trying to be too arsey!, so this is all I have of it.

1/30th on these 2. I'm not real good at 1/30th yet! He did eventually hit the lane markers unfortunately.
