15-85mm, reach > 2.8 for me as I use it outdoors mostly. Pick up a Sigma 30mm 1.4 or a flash with the extra money.

17-55mm is arguably the best EF-S lens produced. Amazing IQ, fixed f/2.8 aperture. The only cons I can think of are that it is after all a EF-S, and dust issues.

How can you ask that without any criteria? Canon makes both for a reason - different purposes.

Just as said. The 17-55 is an awesome lens.

like the others have suggested. Its all based on what/where you shoot. I personally would love to have the 17-55mm f/2.8 because I mostly shoot in lower light conditions indoor.

This poll will just be for personal choice so I voted for the 17-55 but others may enjoy the 15-85 for a walk around lens, after all one is 2.8 and the other is f3.5-5.6, totally different beasts.

i don't get why you make polls where you already have one of the lenses in the poll....this is like your 3rd one this week...spend more time shooting with what you have instead of worrying if the grass is really greener...

Do you think that 11-16 + 17-55 is better then 10-22 +15-85 ?
