Heres a few shots I took today. I still need to learn the lens better and my D7 for that matter.

Good shots.

I just sold mine to part fund a used canon 28-300; I liked the lens but realised that I hadn't used it in over a year!

I think those caterpillars would've been more flattered with the photo taken from a lower angle. I like the 2D composition of the first pic but unfortunately the plant surface to the left of the real subject is larger and more in focus and distracted me from the moment the photo started loading. I would have tried that one slightly from the side. The blur of the caterpillar's body receding from the field of sharp focus is nice to look at though.

The second caterpillar is very similar in color to the plant, and the red backdrop makes that contrast even starker, which results in the plant and caterpillar meshing together more than they would have on a backdrop with a closer color.

Thanks for showing the aperture blade effect, though I'd just like to know the aperture on that one.

Still, not bad at all, I take real junk when I start learning a lens and then for a long time afterwards. It's a great start!

Thanks for the tips Edwin.

I'll look up the aperture when I get home.
