A couple of my favorites for pocket carry are these two versions of the Buck Metro. Not a tool type knife, but great for opening important stuff like shipping boxes and beers :)

I was moderately intrigued by this S&W one; so I got it. Nice that it's spring assist.

I also decided to get a similar survival outdoor folding knife to carry on photo treks in the mountains and other sparsely inhabited areas. Sometimes a Swiss Army won't cut it, literally. I've been looking at the manual assist Zero Tolerance series, a Kershaw product from Ken Onion in collaboration with Strider. Very good-looking knives.

I carry a gun :p Might not be able to cut rope with it, but I don't carry rope either.
I should probably carry a knife and flint though for a long hike if that ever happens

If you've had any training to go along with your gun, you know that the two other things you ALWAYS carry are a knife and a cell phone.

My two favorite knives, the kershaw I have been using for a few years,it goes with me everywhere. The Alaskan bush knife I take camping, don't use it much, but it works so well when I do need it. Fits my hand perfectly.

Check out the SOG PowerLock (external link), it's awesome. Occasionally Steep and Cheap (external link) has them for a great price.

The powerassist looks sweet. I might have to pick another one up and use that as my main tool and keep my Wave in my car or camera bag.

I love the look of that kershaw, there's something special about a knife that looks well loved
