Can anyone recomend a wireless shutter release for the 5D mark II. I bought the Canon RC1 trigger, but it only works when you aim it directly at the front of the camera. I need something that will trigger the shutter release no matter where I aim the remote. It has to be wireless.

I have the Giga Pro from Hahnel and it's working like charm. Not the cheapest, but great function

Any of these ebay wireless remotes will do the job. http://www.ebay.ca …rksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 (external link)

I have an older Phottix version similar to this, and it has never failed me yet.

But how would you use a pocket wizard transmitter in conjunction with these shoe mounted shutter releases?

I use mine on a 40D. I just checked and there are no electrical connection. I don't think you need to mount the Phottix on the hotshoe. I believe it was done for convenience. The Phottix does not draw power from the camera.

Correct, you can just let the remote hang by it's cord.
