With this wonderful flash and lens, any 5D will works perfectly. I like 50mm primes on FF, could use only this prime and no other lens for weeks.
I would recommend to add Tamron 28-75 2.8 later on to have additional range. Good IQ, small size, weight and price also light. Again, if not 50 prime, this will be my second choice to have only one lens on FF camera.
I like this lens on my 5Dc for portraits with little hint from flash and for walkaround.

The 5Dc is still my main camera and I absolutely love it. The only thing that I sometimes would like is the ability to fine tune the focus on lenses. But that ain't worth $1000 IMO.

If she ever needs video, I'll probably have to ship it to her! My university is about 90 miles away, and shipping is cheaper than gas. :)

If you'd even consider shipping it, then clearly you're not visiting her enough!

I'd go for the 5Dc - if she has an extra 1k to put into a 5DII, that money could be better spent on more lenses than to get the newer camera body. I'd love to have a 5DII, but my 5Dc will suit me just fine until I pick up another couple lenses.

She only has a 50 1.4, but she says she absolutely love that lens and won't another lens for what she shoots.
