Oh come on George don't tell me that little Miss Sarah (I would call her lovely Miss Sarah) is another one of your second shooters?!?!

Actually Ron, she is ! I met her several years ago as a model, and we became friends. Couple years ago she said she would like to try being on the back side of the camera. She is a wonderful "people person"....everybody just loves her personality, and she can pose and direct people very well. So at the time, I handed her the old D30 (the old 3 megapickle body from Y2K ! ) with the 17-40, and said, "here, play with this for a few weeks and see what you get". Wow....she has a very creative eye, and just fell in love with the whole deal. So I put photoshop on her computer, and when she wants to try something new, she googles it, finds a tutorial, and works her way thru it. Not kidding, this is a bright girl, learns quick. We're working thru getting her up to speed on the technical understanding of all this. I found a used 40D that I got for her, and an old 28-105. She is having a blast, and getting some darn good results !

She lugs around a one series with the 200 f/2 and never even mentions the weight.....all she ever says is "I love this lens !" LOL....gotta love a girl like that.

regards, george w

DANG, wish i was a carismatic young woman who could find an "old pro" to give me a camera, photoshop, and show me the ropes!

Lucky young lady there to have such a great teacher as you George.

I, on the other hand, fall into the category from your quote... "expensive user error." :P
but when i have time available, I love to make my mistakes just to get 1 keeper and learn something from it all. As long as i learned something from it, the mistakes were worth it!

Ha ! ...well thanks Tim....the key word there is old ! But yeah, it's fun, and I'm just so thankful when I see a young person that wants to pick this up and do more with it than just take snapshots with their iPhone.
She's a hard working college kid, that works two jobs also, so if I can help her make a few $$ with photography, that's a good thing in my book.

Gotta promote the idea of the youngsters moving forward in employment....they are gonna be paying my social security in a couple of years ! :D

What is the big deal, Richard?

HiYa Eskimochaos! :)

I'm sorry if I gave the impression of being on a Tirade in my initial post, or in this one. It wasn't my intent to berate, but to point out a flaw I saw in how it was done.
The fact of restarting the thread is not a big deal.
It's the restarting the thread with 'zero explanation' that is a semi-big deal for me.
Words are the basis of most of the interactions on forums like this (excepting the lovable emoticons of course), not using words and sentences is almost impossible on POTN.
Just saying when something is done without even a vague nod to the existence of a reason for the action in the single sentence announcing it rubs me as a poor way to run a railroad.
I had zero-zip-nada knowledge of why a thread might have to be reset, yet I was able to hypothesize a couple theories and wrote em up easy breezy.
The users of this thread were able to explain it for me in posts of 1 or 2 sentences without breaking a sweat.
But the forum members had to do it from memory because the Mod didn't take the 60 seconds to say...
"reset time, you've reached the software's limit of 10k posts per thread. Congrats"
Leaving out the explano for the reset rubbed me the wrong way is the simple explanation, I guess.
Sincerely
Richard in Michigan
:D
