I found a very good offer for a canon 35mm 1.4, but I don't know if it would be better than my sigma 50mm 1.4...I know they are different FL, but quite near so I don't know if I would see a difference between these two lenses...

Thanks

Enrico

personally, i think there's a difference.

my favourite perspectives are 35mm and 50mm; and i own both the 35L and 50EX.

if you would eventually like to own the 35L, and have found a good deal, go for it!

A 35mm on full frame gives 64° diagonal angle pictures.
With a 50mm it's 46° diagonal angle... in surface it's equivalent to the half of the 35mm's picture. So yes, that's a big difference.

I never loved the 50mm FL. The 35mm is much more versatile and natural, for me.

If you had a good deal, just go for it ! In case you don't like it, you can sell it for the same price (or more !). This is just a free rent !!

I love the sigma 50mm but I don't use so much on ff because it's not wide enough and not close enough... I don't know it the gap 35mm and 100 or 135mm is too long...my actual gear is
50mm sigma
100mm canon L
135mm canon L
200mm canon 2.8 L
17-40mm canon L
24-105mm canon L

5d mkII

and I would like to reduce it because I think my wife soon or late will discover how many money I spent...so I can't have another lens...:p

Ha ha ! I had the same problem as you. The immobilized money is too important.

I'm thinking about reducing (35L+85L+135L+17-40+24-105+70-200), so I sold the 70-200 and 35L for some reason. I wasn't able to shoot sports with 35L and I did better at high ISO + f4 + IS then f1.4 ! But finaly, I would have less lenses, for the same price because I'm thinking in buying the 70-200 IS II and 16-35 !

I lived with 35L+135L combo to shoot everything ! And much others do. I think exactly the same thing as you : 50mm is not so wide, not so long. If you think this, the 35L is certainly the FL you need !!
