The stud had completely fallen out. So I wouldn't necessarily trust it as-is. Anyone have any other recommendations for mounting these things to light stands?

Sep 23, 2011 19:38 | #4 I've noticed that on mine I can no longer remove the superclamp stud I have mounted it because the the whole mount freely rotates. After seeing your disaster I can only imagine mine coming apart in the same way very soon.

It wasn't intended to be hung like that. When you use the OEM clamp, the bottom of the VML rests against the stand. When you hang it on a clamp, the bottom of the VML sort of floats in the air. If you want to hang it from a clamp like that, use a contact adhesive and some foam to add a support at the bottom.

I just used the included shoulder strap and did this :  Mounts to anything real easy, it clips on the lightstand's locking knobs for me or my belt. Feel free to call me Case.
