My wife and I are expecting our first child. We had a couple of ideas and after a couple of hours of shooting, we are very pleased with the results. She is 38 weeks now and we are just waiting for the arrival of our son. C&C welcome.

First of all, congrats to you and your wife.

I think you did a pretty good job on these photos. You really showed her belly well along with the rest of her. The lighting could have been a little softer (both angle and quality) on some but I really like the B&W shots.

#3 is so good that it doesn't even seem to be part of the same shoot. My favorite for sure.

What did you use for lighting?

Mostly interesting in backlight.

As main light, single 580EX II inside an apollo 28" softbox or on a 60" reflective umbrella. For backlighting, I used a 430EX mounted on a light stand.

3 & 4 are definitely the best of the bunch. I kind of like #1 as well.

My faves are also three and four... Really nicely lit, posed and processed... One is nice, but I echo the others in that I find the light in shots 5-7 harsh. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you and your wife have a beautiful, healthy and happy baby. All the best!

3,4 look like they could belong in a gallery. Beautiful.

Some nice shots. As others have said, the lighting could be a bit softer.

With #5, I find the visible panties quite distracting. A bit of work in PS to darken them so they are lost in the shadow would look better, I think. Hope you don't mind, I did a quick job...
