Tamro 70-300 VC with a squeeky autofocus...

Hi All, I have the chance to buy the above lens,for a nice price. Only problem is that the AF is squeeky, seems to work well otherwise-focus wise, and I have to let him know by this evening if I want it.

I have never owned a Tamron lens of any kind and have never tried the above style of lens. Thus I am not sure this is normal or not. The fellow selling the lens told me that it just started doing this. Do you think it could be the AF motor? Would it be a relatively "cheap" fix? Should I just stay away from it? BTW, the price is $150.

NO,NO,NO!! It can signal that the AF motor is going out. I asked tamron for a price just to lube the AF.....$160 minimum!

Email Tamron and ask for a repair under warranty

Can you have the seller send it under warranty? They have a 6 year warranty. Offer to pay the freight at that price. I paid $400 for mine new and still think it a great value.

Are you sure it's the 70-330 VC USD? I doubt anyone would sell it for $150 unless they know it's garbage.
