fortunately, you can simply MicroAdjust that into behavior :) A soft lens on the other hand is something you can't really fix. (you've got the easily solved problem.... visit your users manual for micro adust)

Micro adjustment on a 5D mk2 seems to be problematic with zoom lenses. One can fine-tune lens on a specific focal length and then on the other side of the focal length, results can be much worse. Just a word of caution, guys!

Thats what im thinking as well.. If it were a prime lens then Micro adjust away but since its a variable zoom would be best to send it in.....

lankforddl I would really like to see a more controlled example. Children are really easy to miss Focus on there is a chance your lens may be back focusing but the picture you supplied is really hard to tell the skin is a bit blown out and the eyes have some harsh shadows the hair does look to be in-focus but due to the rest of the photo i cant really distinguished if its just back focus or what

I don't own this lens anymore but when I had it I enjoyed it most of the time. I traded this lens for a 135L and a 35L. But this lens was a really awesome walkaround lens for low light

hey dan, yeah, your correct... not sure now if this was the same thread, but had just discussed that Micro can really only be done on one end of a zoom... and should likely be on the end most used... otherwise its a waste of time... best to send it in if you want the whole lens adjusted... and even better to send the body in with it, since in essence they'll be adjusting it to a specific body

I'll do some test shots with a tripod, 5D, 60D and share the results. My guess is that the 60D and 24-70 don't play well together.

A few shots from my garage experience at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this past Sunday. Was loving my 24-70 on my 5D. Hope all of you NASCAR fans enjoy!

Well, dropped mine the other day :((strap broke), sheared off of my 50d...attachment ring was still attached to camera, sending it in for an estimate so insurance co. can see which is cheaper (repair or replace)...camera still works though:D. Miss it already:cry:

Update: just got the estimate from Canon on the repair...$177 shipped...paid...now, just have to wait to get it back...

Ugh... I hope it works out. I ALWAYS fear the day that something like that will happen to me. my 24-70 is just about permanently mounted to my 7D (well, at least until my 5D comes back from cleaning...)
