Let's see, if I'm in the business of selling cameras... Should I tell potential customers that they don't need new cameras?

I'm going to apply for a job at Nikon.

Either any idiot can get a job there, or there will be job opening in marketing..very soon. ;)

If you're in the business of selling Nikon, you shouldn't be telling the public to bypass Nikon and move right on to Leica, Miyama, Hasselblad, or some other "better" gear.

Your average camera buyer--think soccer mom in Best Buy--likely couldn't tell you what any of those names are.

Right, because the soccer moms are subscribing to Nikon's facebook page. This is marketing to pros and serious amateurs.

And people who just happen to own that company's product. It's marketing, plain and simple. If you can convince someone to get a more expensive product or feature then a company will do it. Not sure why you singled out a single statement for doing something that's been done for years in advertising.

Oh, it's marketing, all right. Bad marketing. The post has generated over 1,600 negative comments, mostly from existing customers. Defend it all you want, this is a fail.

LOL. They would want to know how many past successful social media campaigns you have done. Social media is just a channel, but it got turned into a job. It is only a matter of time before they rediscover that marketing is really writing.

Hey, they may have been hacked, because the original post is not gender neutral. Even interns don't make that kind of mistake these days, lest they be fired for failing the PC test.

Somebody does not know much about marketing!!! You don't put a product on the market and say it is just another..... That is not how you stay in business. You put something out and say it will change the world weather it really can or not( i.e. Gary Fong)

How many other products are advertised every day that cant do what they claim? Yet this one some how is different?
