I am working on this picture and I really like it but something is not right. Could I please get some tips and pointers? I also think her hair roots are distracting.

overall looks pretty good. I do think that the eyelashes are a bit overdone, pupils maybe a little small and like you said, hair roots a little distracting. The eyes scream for attention but the rest of the picture has a pretty "soft/delicate" fell to it. expression is dramatic so maybe it's just the mixed messages?

To me it is just the eyes that are distracting. I am not seeing any life in them.

+1. They look almost like a solid color, with the whites being over done as well. Hard to tell on the skin at this size, but looks like could lower the opacity on your blur layer.

The white of the eyes are natural. I will try and tone down the eyes. Thanks Guys

Looks preety good to me, but on a slightly different note (since I'm on my phone I can't really comment on the finer details), to me it seems as though something is just a little off dealing with her arm.... perhaps the horizontal angle of it? seems to sortve choke her off a bit with how she's peering over it. Maybe it is just too much skin that is competing with her face.

If you haven't touched the eyes, don't. They look fine. Some people on here automatically assume eyes have been brightened and sharpened. To me the image has a rather golden orangish tone that is a color cast over the image making it appear less vibrant.

I agree with HappySnapper. This photo is too warm for my taste. Way too much orange!

Yes, way too warm and red. Here's what I was able to do in 3 minutes with Lightroom (linear tone curve). Is your computer screen calibrated for brightness, contrast, and color?

Yea the original is just a bit warm. Snappers edit is definitely a good look for the image. I would tone done the eyes though, give them a little contrast. They almost seem too perfect.

Thanks for the tips, no my screen is not calibrated. Here are the changes I have made how does it look?

Over exposed, very bright. Your monitor must be quite off. Even though the image has no blown highlights, referencing the histogram, you are putting parts of her hair and skin that to me are just way too bright. Blonde hair and Caucasian skin are not colors to have exposed in the white highlight region. As a guide you could reference my edit. If you match my edit on your screen and the image you are editing looks bad then your computer screen must be really off for brightness, color, and contrast.
