Hi there,:)

Thanks to Forum Member "MJP" for sending me the Samy's link. I went to Samy's in Downtown LA. Wow, what a store. A 4 story building full of cameras. I bought a Lens Cleaning kit, a cleaning cloth, and a Canon Wireless Remote. My gal thought it is cool. I need a tripod now, so I can be in the pics. I didn't buy any lens, had to save my money for the Disney stuff and hotel rooms.

I'm not setup at any of the online photo hosting sites, so I can't posts pics. I took over 400 pics. with my XT. I'm really impressed with the Night Scene mode, just need a tripod to make everything in focus and not blurry.

Samy's is sweet. I am 10 minutes away from the one in Santa Ana - a far cry from the LA store, but it serves my needs.

Just so that you know, you CAN post shots without a host. Use the "Manage Attachments" feature below in the "Additional Options" box. All it needs to be is an image no longer than 800 pixels in it's longest dimension and no larger than 100k file size.

Have at it.

I still have to learn about resizing and all that stuff. Right now I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize and everything looks small to make it under 100KBs.

Thanks for posting info.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but there is no Samys in downtown LA. The large one you went to is on La Brea and that is essentially West LA. Downtown is where the "skyscrapers" are. Even still Samy"s is great. I go to the one in Pasadena. Tiny, but has great service. Michelle, there, exchanged a Canon lens for me 3 months after I bought it!!

Yeah, over by La Brea on Fairfax. Sorry, thought it was downtown. Got a $65 parking ticket over by the Tar Pits. I didn't get the rental van moved off the street by 4pm.

I'm not trying to split hairs but isn't it on Fairfax not La Brea? BTW, that store is amazing.

When you get an Adobe product (or even some others), use the "Save for Web" option. That will shrink your file size without actually shrinking the picture below 800px(pixels). I know you can do this in Corel's PhotoPaint, also.

I have Adobe Photoshop Album Starter in my computer, my gal has the full version of Adobe Photoshop in her machine. Guess I'm using the wrong machine.

Samy's is always my choice for shopping when in USA... especially because of a bit extra attention for SS members ;) It's nice store (I was actually shopping only in store on Fairfax and in Santa Ana) and it doesn't even feel that bad to leave them so much money :)

I was at the La Brea Samy's at the weekend. Didn't buy anything. We live pretty close to the Samy's in Venice though.

I bought my first lens from that Samy's. The prices aren't great, but the service is good.
