not a fan of the perspective here. My guess is the FL is too short. She looks like a giant.

So, bearing in mind that I'm very much a newbie, should I have backed off from the subject and zoomed in more perhaps?

I guess she does look like a giant, especially seeing the people on the beach in the background, but then again, I was thinking originally that it made her look statuesque.

Others?

Thanks for the input!

Just move the camera slightly higher.
Not saying you should have done it with this shot but try different verticals next time to see the differences.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

Nice shot patspicasa. Did you get over to any beaches in St. Maarten?

I just got my first pair of glasses that I didn't think I needed. I apologize to anybody in the past year that I said their pictures were out of focus lol.

St. Maarten is on our list of places to go possibly next year for our 25th anniversary. Can do 4 days there or 7 days somewhere in Cancun area.

St. Maarten is cool. Been there twice now. Only the Dutch side though...

very nice shots. Like the jewelry/dress look and the tan. The napkin she is holding in pic one should go, however...

Yes, IMO the shot would look better with some more distance between you and her (it is distance to subject that effects perspective not focal length), a longer Focal length could then be used if possible so you do not have to crop a lot during pp.
