Thanks! I tossed the 35L and Zeiss 35 around in my mind for quite awhile before taking the plunge to the Zeiss.

So far, MF has been a breeze... I almost prefer it in some cases! 1.4 would be nice but I can live without it...

The sharpness wide open is shocking and the MFD is great!

Drew... likewise I've been tossing between the ZE 35, 35L for quite some time. Add to that list the 24L and ZE 21. My main wide for the past six years has been the 16-35 2.8L Mark 1. It is and has been a good lens but I think I'd like to add some "prime zap" (if you can say that) to my wide end. It is reassuring that you find the manual focus a breeze. I have a Florida/New York trip coming up and if I can swing it I think I will add the ZE 35, see how I like it and go from there.

I was back and fourth on the 24L and the Zeiss 35... In fact if a deal hadn't fallen through I would have purchased the 24L...

I feel like the 24-35mm focal length is an entirely different animal to the 21 and never really considered it (despite it's reputation). If my primary concern was landscapes, however, I'd pick it up over all of the others! For people pictures and general photography I feel the 24L or 35 is a better FL.

Someday, I plan on a 24L purchase... After I get rid of my 5D and pick up the mk2!

I do have the precision screen and the fact that the aperture and focus confirm still work really don't make this a difficult lens to work with. You can get a steal on the Distagon, I bought mine for $800, and sell it at no loss if you don't like the MF...

FWIW, and if anyone is interested - I just finished writing up an extensive review of the Zeiss Biogon T* 2/35 ZM lens (external link) (perhaps the smaller cousin of the ZE). Short conclusion; serious bang for the buck, great lens. Sharp yet gentle, excellent color, zero distortion (almost), mild vignetting.

One of these days I'm gonna plunk down for this ZE... Though I love my 35L.

I took my new Zeiss to the Apple Orchard and came away with some fun pictures and some great apples!

On the way, I cannot get over the colors that come from this lens:

Hi, I just bought zeiss 35 f2 two days ago. Used the lens on 5Dii, I experienced the photos taken are all underexposed by 1 to 2 stops. It's not really a matter because I used to manually expose most time by looking at the histogram but don't like the feeling that something here is not right. Are there anyone here got the same problem and how to fix it or it's just mine.

After taking some time off from photography and selling off all my gear, this lens is one of the reasons for me to repurchase a kit. I'll probably go with something like a 5D/5DII and 35/50 ZE, the rendering of this lens is just awesome! Very nice pictures everyone.

I have the 35 L and the Zeiss is still a winner in my book. ;) Keep it! :)

Congrats! If you love the 50 MP, you're in for a treat with the 35 f2. :);)

A couple with the Zeiss 35 f/2. I think they're both at f/2.

^^Nice comp Evan. :)

Thanks! That shot is one of my favorites. Love the lines.

This is my favorite lens in the Zeiss lineup, here's another, nothing fancy but for some reason I like how it turned out:
