Word of warning: If you don't like it in Cades Cove, don't go to Yellowstone or the Tetons. People think all bears are Yogi out there.

Here here! I have watched people walk within 20 yards of bears, and closer to bison. It is amazing more people don't get seriously injured, or worse.

@OP - great capture.

And the really sad part is that when these people get attacked and hurt, it's almost always the "animal's fault". That's what drives me the most nuts. People who have no respect for wildlife and it's the animals who get the bad image. :rolleyes:

Even more sad .... If a bear harms a human in the GSMNP the bear is "put down" not relocated or other means ... they are killed!

Thanks everyone
huntersdad ... I have been to YNP and GTNP several times and love them both ... the Smokies are home and my favorite place on earth. Keep in mind that YNP gets about 3.5 visitors per year and the GSMNP gets 9.5 million visitors per year .... you need to see those "bear jams" !

10megapixel - If you ever get this way again drop me a PM and I will get you on the bears

That would be great! We rented a beautiful cabin in Pigeon Forge and just loved the whole experience. The Smokies are breathtaking ;)

The view from outside our cabin:
