Guys, a friend of mine wants to sell his 1D, asking for around USD550, with good looking body, estimated shutter actuations 70.000, the downside being the box, all paperwork, and original strap are absent. A charger and an original battery is included, but the battery is leaking so it needs to be replaced ASAP.
Is that a good deal considering the body itself is in good condition? How much will it cost for an original battery?
I use a 50D now, do you recommend adding this body to my arsenal? I'm thinking of mainly using it with my 85mm.
Thanks for your insights.

Cheers! :D

There are several different after market batteries available which are as good if not better than the Canon items and at less than 1/3 the cost , 70000 clicks it is just run in , if it comes with the Canon charger is a big plus . Knock $100 off the price and own it

I've had the best luck with the Lenmar branded generics. You can grab them on Amazon for far less than half the price of an OEM battery.

550 is a decent price for a body if it looks showroom, and that is a pretty low number of actuations, but you will find them cheaper if you wait. Here on the board, they tend to sell in the 400 range.

Yeah, that thing better look mint for that price... If you don't mind it being a little rubbed up here and there then you can get them for < $400.

Thanks to this forum I ended up buying a 1D Classic for a steal off the 'bay. I must say I truly enjoy the classic and its extremely high speed shutter.

I've finally joined the club.
It is a joy to use the 1D"ino". I really missed the feeling of the 1D series since I sold my beloved 1DMkII 2 yrs ago.

Hi guys, new to the forums so i've been lurking around a bit. I've been looking to get a 1D classic to replace my 40D now that i'm doing more sports and race car photog as a hobby. I'm trying to get a good deal on a 1D. anyone know of someone selling one, i hate waiting on ebay auctions!!

by the way, these are amazing pictures and they are pretty damn sharp. i've gone through about 50 pages and i can't get enough!
