Don't do it unless you are extremely prepared. Did it with my 5D, eventually put it back together and works as before, but lots and lots of time and effort.

I was able to access it, but I still couldn't do anything with it because it is stripped. Las Vegas Wedding Photographer: http://www.joeyallenphoto.com

Complete disassembly of a camera..may not be. Las Vegas Wedding Photographer: http://www.joeyallenphoto.com

ZoneV Goldmember More info | Oct 10, 2011 05:19 | #9 DSLR cameras are not very hard to take apart and make it working again! to get the body top cap away, I have taken ~ 36 parts away. Some of them were screws, some springs, small ball, distance rings that need the right direction afterwards... On my EOS 350D / Rebel XT camera I took the IR cut filter away, and "invented" a system to make it possible to change filters (for example the origina, or different IR-transmission filters, or a ND filter) - see my homepage. My EOS 1000D / Rebel XS I took several times apart, made one working out of two defective ones. And I had to repair the SD card slot: That was no fun because I need to get in very deep, but the work involved is more or less simple. But on the cameras with build it flash, the capacitor with its high voltage is a problem. DIY-Homepage
