I'd have to say my 100mm f/2.8 Macro. My 50mm f/1.8 II, despite its physical appearances, is right up there too.

Gear: Canon 24mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 300mm f/4L IS, 5D, Elan 7, 420EX, Metz 52 AF-1

I used to have the 85 f1.8, and it was very good and sharp. Only con about that lens is the CA which can be easily fixed in PP.

Canon 17-55 f/2.8 followed by the Canon 10-22.
These are plenty sharp and get the most use.

EF 135 f/2.8 Soft Focus

Just something the line up of L doesn't have.

Yes I understand Photoshop can achieve the result easily, but I just prefer to get it right when I took the pics.

Best non-L in terms of image quality is either the TS-E 90mm or the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 OS. The Sigma is an "EX" but you did say "non-L" ;)

Flat-out best overall is still the 50mm f/1.4. It may not be the sharpest wide open, but other lenses aren't close to that wide (the TS-E 90mm is two stops slower!), and on APS-C it's a killer combination that I still use all the time, especially when stopped down a fair ways.

If I used full frame I'd probably pick the TS-E 90mm since it is sharp at f/2.8 like nobody's business, and it would serve the same purpose as the 50mm (just lacking autofocus).

My favorite to shoot with is the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, but in terms of versatility I like the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8.

A hard question! The EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS, but also the 50mm f/1.8 II.

2x 7D Mark II | 70D
EF-S 10-18mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM | EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM |
EF-S 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM | EF 70-200mm f/4L |
EF 135mm f/2L | EF 100mm f/2 | EF 85mm f/1.8 | EF 50mm f/1.2L | EF 35mm f/1.4L
My cameras are now all 7-Series
