After reading so many review about this lens yet asking 17-55's owner, finally made my decision
Today I'm just bought canon 17-55 f2.8 IS USM, and it sharp!at the store I'm also tested 17-40, at the same aperture (f4), the canon 17-55 is sharper!..the built & zoom ring is not as smooth as 17-40/other L series IMHO. I'll give my further review about this lens next time.
So, after I got home, I'm just realize there is something strange that I wanted to ask you (17-55 owners) and it makes me scared!.
1. I can hear the IS work when I press half shutter (sound "shhisst.."), is it normal? (Cause my 18-55 IS don't make this sound)
2. This is what I did, press half shutter - sound "shhist" (IS work) - release my finger (cancel shutter) - after a while another sound "shhist" (like IS off)..is this normal too cause when the second "shhist" happened I don't touch anything??
3. Press half shutter - sound "shhish"(IS work) - press shutter - picture displayed - another sound "shhist" (like IS off)..is this allsoo normal too??
It happens sometimes, and it sounds like "clock ticks".Please for the 17-55's owners, maybe can give me some answer, it does makes me uncomfortable (especially there's an issue with the IS).Thanks before.
