I tagged along with my friend Chris and his niece and mother to the local pumpkin patch today. They don’t have a lot of pictures together, so I offered my services.

Not sure if this is the right forum for this thread, but it seemed to be the most fitting, if it belongs elsewhere, please move it mods.

EDIT: Hmm perhaps this would be more appropriate in the babies and family forum? Tough call...

I also like 4th line right side with the little girl carrying the pumpkin and marching off. I think these are nice photos, but the makeup on the little girl looks weird to me.

Thanks guys! I thought the makeup looked a little weird too, but her grandma heard I was taking pictures and had somehow had it in her mind that you needed lots of makeup as it doesn't really show up in photos, haha.

The colors are fantastic. I'm assuming you took these with the 5D and 70-200 2.8L?

Thanks, most appreciated! I am really in love with the 5D Mark II, I've wanted to go full frame for a long time.

They were indeed taken with that combo, I loved the lens on my t2i, but on 5DII it really shines, can't imagine what the 70-200 2.8 IS II must be like. I did use the 50 1.4 on several shots, just none that posted here.

Yeah, as a mom of 2 girls, I'm hating the blue eyeshadow on the kid, what a shame. Even in performances my kids were in (dance) we used natural eye shadows in brown and beige. But whatever, they are the ones who have to live with it! Your photos are beautiful, I love the colour and clarity.
Bit of an odd family mix... Is grandma raising the little girl? Where are her parents? Can't say I've ever arranged to have my kid go to an event with her uncle and get family photos done. Interesting.

Makes me lust for the 5D, too. Sigh.

I agree without the makeup, definitely could have gone without that. Oh well what can you do? Her mom was upset about it. Thanks for the compliments!

Her mother was just at work, single mom. Her grandma watches her a lot and they all just wanted to go to the pumpkin patch together, it wasn't exactly an arranged event.
