for the actual scrim or fabric part I recommend stuff called "ripstop nylon". Its great stuff. Very durable and perfect for creating nice soft light.

As for the frame we just used hollow metal tubing from home depot.

That scrum looks deceptively small in that shot... its actually 6'x'6'x6'x6' all around when assembled. Nice thing is though you can take it apart in about two minutes to easily take with you.

With the prices out there on large scrims I realized you can make 95% the same thing on your own for a fraction of the price.

Oh okay.... very doable DIY project. For a scrim that large just make sure what ever material you use for the frame its durable enough to not flex on such a large span.

Oxford nylon has been working fabulouslyfor me. Same stuff that flag corps use for their flags.
