Sectionals for Indiana kicked off yesterday. Both games strobed (AB1600's bounced off the ceiling). Low shots taken with a 1DMkIII with sigma 70-200 OS, high shots with 7D and sigma 120-300 OS.

I would look at the technique you are using to bounce these. The shadows I'm seeing don't give the impression that the light is coming straight down. In picture 1, you are seeing the shadow from the net on the wall, so it seems like the light is coming from right where the camera is. On #3, the shadow of the net is on her face. The light looks more direct than bounced.

I think the first picture your best shot. I would toss 5 and 6. 5 she is shanking the pass off her left fist. 6 her face is blocked because your timing was too good =). Millisecond later or earlier and you have a keeper.

Thanks Dam, it is a small school and they would not allow me to bring in the scissor left to mount them on the rafters, so they were mounted just above the top roll of the bleachers on each side. They were pointed towards the ceiling at an angle so the bounce would point down towards the court.

Two total, one on each end of the court. Set at 3/4 power.

I agree with Dan on the shadows, I have bounced the lights into the corners or on the wall behind me when I had to, the shadows don't seem as harsh then.....
