Always had a fasination with older cameras, but never owned one. I felt like it was the time to pick one up. What better camera than the AE-1 Program. Last time I used one was over 11 years ago in high school.

Just got this...yes, I know I could have purchased one much cheaper, but i'm really particular about condition and accessories and this one looks mint!

Now to figure out what film to use. I figure i'll play around with some 400 Speed Fuji for color, but not sure what to use for black and white. I only shot film a handful of times so this is new to me. I'll get filmed developed and a cd made of images. I can't wait to play around with it and see how I do. It will definitely give me a different perspective from using my 1DIV that's for sure.

Very cool!!! Looks new and very clean. Has it ever been used? I have one similar to this at home that I used about 15 years ago in college. It's all black, but I thought it was the AE-1.

The ebay ad says like new condition. It sure doesn't look used. Hopefully I get it and it is as described and works well.

I should have it sometime next week and i'll post up my own shots when it arrives.

I don't think I was this excited when I got my Mark IV LOL bw!

No box ???

I still have my AE-1 w/50mm 1.8 I wanted to give it to my son and his reply was "no thanks, I got this.." and he held up his cell phone. I wanted to cry. He's 19 now and still thinks a phone is a camera.

Yes, I hope it is as nice as in the pictures. You'll have to let us know. I needed the digital era, simply because I kept taking pix with my 35mm only to find out in the developing lab that my film never advanced and there was nothing on them. lol

Yeah no box unfortunately. Maybe I can find a box for cheap

I just watched two NIB AE-1P's go for over $500 each.

I had one, lost it. I have an F-1, so love the old cameras. Enjoy it!

Something I've learned is that often times getting film scanned to a CD results in photos that have essentially have an "auto contrast" applied maximizing contrast in the image possibly applying more contrast than was actually recorded. This can sometimes eliminate some of what film has over digital (making highlights too bright, making them brighter than they were captured for instance). Results can end up looking like they came from a P&S camera aside from different depth of field but the whole overall high contrast look.

I get far better results (aside from color balance generally) when I can my film myself. Although a pro lab will have profiles on color correction when they scan that I don't have myself. Scanning film is an art even for a pro lab that will not deliver the best results if everything is left on an automated mode, especially if you use a drug store. Also with film processing, don't go cheap because you often get what you pay for.

I have a lab near me that i'm going to try out and compare to a few others. I'm not going to shoot film that much, just a bit to play around with it.

I got the camera yesterday and was able to check it out when I got home from shooting a wedding.

Wow...it looks as if it is 100 % new and never used! I loaded a roll of Kodak 400 speed film and have taken a few shots already. It is the simplest camera to use compared to my 1DIV, but being used to something different I have to keep checking the book trying to figure out what this or that is blinking. Haha. Hope to get out a bit today after editing to play with it.

I love old cameras too :) I've got my dad's old... I think its an A-1? Lying about somewhere, and a T-90, and a bunch of old rangefinders. That one you've bought, though, looks in VERY good condition, congrats.

I love these old manual focus cameras....I started collecting them a while ago. If it doesn't already exist, maybe a thread should be started with pics of old Canons?
