I have been looking at the similarly priced Epson 3880, but since I only do black & white, The Pixma's five dedicated inks might prompt a reconsideration. I'll have to check out the reviews; wonder how Epson might respond on the monochrome side, if at all.

Canon Rumors says:

The PIXMA PRO-1 will be available nationally in Australia from early November 2011 (RRP: $1499).

I believe things tend to be more expensive in AUS, so I'm going to guess $999 USD at launch, maybe $1099.

But will the damn thing stay clean? And can the print head be replaced easily? Otherwise it's worthless.
