Has anyone seen this? Opteka redesigned this lens... Supposed to be sharper when not stopped down as much and they also made the hood removable! :)

Hell froze over! Our new 6.5mm fisheye is finally done and ready for production. It is 100% designed and produced by us. No more 3rd party controlling the design and price like all the rest of the 6.5-8mm’s out there (all made by the same factory). First changes we made were making that ____ hood removable and sharpening up the lens while down in the f3.5-8 range. They will be here next month and will be selling between $239-259. Boo-yah!

Looks good. It looks like it is still the same field of view according to Opteka. I wonder why they are calling it a 6.5mm.

Opteka has always called theirs a 6.5mm and until the new one's released, theirs is currently the same Samyang.

FWIW, Vivitar calls it a 7mm

I wonder why they are $100 more for a Canon? Nikons are $100 cheaper !!!

Thank you guys, I think I have far better shots taken with this piece-of-hidden-treasure-lens, but people usually like this one the most :)
It is my favorite lens which is sort of strange given it's a specialty lens not to be used all the time.

If I had two bodies... This lens would stay on one of them! :)

I agree. I find myself using it more often than many of my other lenses. Great shot BTW.

+1. I'm thinking when I buy a 7D that I'll also get a split prism focus screen for my T1i and make it a dedicated MF body for Rokinon lenses.

And that Paris rainbow pic is way cool. Nicely done. Where'd you shoot it from?

@M_Six
You probably know this, but given that this is a 8mm fisheye, focusing is not a problem. Just set approximate distance, f/8 and off you go.
The rainbow shot was taken from the Eiffel tower. It was a a pretty bad weather that day, than sun came out but soon after, it started raining. Not many people stayed, but I am so glad I did to welcome the rainbow :D The Eiffel tower along with the Montparnasse Tower are two must locations in Paris for every photographer :)

I don't want to spam you guys, so if anyone is interested there are some shots taken with this lens in my flickr gallery. http://www.flickr.com …c/sets/72157623268473796/ (external link)
