Yeah, quite a bit better than anything I got. I've been doing a project on people and their reactions during the world cup, and had forced myself to use the just the one lens, the 35mm. (I did make one exception a few weeks back to take a wide view of the cinema I was in watching the game). My 'portraits' of the team as they went through suffered badly due to sticking to the lens, which kinda sucks. :(

Hopefully by the time I've worked through the remaining shots (the first half have been online for a few weeks already) the 'feel' will work as a whole and as a documentary instead though which was the greater goal. Hopefully... ?!

Cheers, Dave.

Hey Dave. I enjoyed your photos. Living here on the other side of the world particularly in Germany where people don't even know what Rugby is, it is great to see a bit of the background action. I like your words on N.Z. and rugby too. Sums it up well.
I Didn't get to see many matches, actually the only one I saw the entire game of was the Final where I managed to find a stable Live stream that didn't crap out on me every few minutes. Funnily enough it was a Japanese channel so at 1/2 time we had Japanese advertisements, and analysis in Japanese. Didn't understand much.

Where as in the USA I lucked out and a few of the NZ games were free to air.. the semis were live + free to air - and the US networks didnt butcher too much with ads during the game. They even took the NZ commentators, so aside from the 4am kickoff, was just like being in NZ. The Final was pay per view ($US30), so watched the NBC replay later (and put up with the commentators having to explain every nuance). Was pleasantly surprised the replay had no ads during the halves. Was not a fun time avoiding all internet etc till I got to watch the game some 16 hours after it finished (would have been shorter - but went to a NASCAR race).

Daniel

It's fair to say the country has been an absolute delight to be in the last few weeks. Even if you're not a rugby fan, 99.9% of everyone has been in a happy mood, smiling, welcoming and just generally on top form. Really something to see the whole country turn it on. :)

Cheers, Dave.

Thanks for all the comments guys, much appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised with the results of the portraits.
Dave, I particular liked the photos you put up the other day from the Scotland Vs Argentina were excellent, really captured the atmosphere.

Andrew, the portraits are great, and the black and white really works! Nice job.

Hi folks, remember me? Just lurking. I have been a bit busy with RWC and now a ship stuck on a reef.

Dave, I might need you to call around and run me through that camera stuff again. Do you look through the big round bit on the front?

I've got a rope in the back of the car if you need a hand towing it off.

Haha.. Hey Bruce.
Nice photos of you ;) Did the Tattoo hurt?
I think if you look at the other end, there is a little itsy bitsy window that you should look into.
On the big round thing is sometimes a removable cover which needs to be removed first.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

We are surrounded by some pretty cool talent!

Tony, about time you started shooting again, no reason you couldn't win it next year.

Speaking of shooting again, who remembers my old A80?
I took it out for a walk with a flickr group on Saturday and it still works!
