S100 owners (or planning to buy one) did you skip the S90/95 or G's waiting for this?

The S90 and S95 looked like really cool advanced cameras, but quite expensive (and this goes for the G series as well). While they do have good IQ, I thought for the money they should have a CMOS sensor and then maybe I would buy one. Well now I am waiting impatiently to buy one, the high ISO performance (as well as many other new features) look like it is a very fun and great performing camera! Did anyone else skip the previous S series waiting for this type of improvement? Not sure what I'm gonna do with my SD700IS now, it does take the same battery though!

I did hold off as I decided to get something only a couple of months ago. So far I don't see much real-world difference in the pics so I'm thinking of getting an S95 while they are still around. The $90 price difference doesn't impress me.

I used to own G9 (and LOVED it), however once I discovered the pocket-ability & quality of S90 - G series did
not interest me much anymore. I skipped S95. Just sold S90 to co-worker and upgraded to S100. Perhaps there is not a big difference between S95 and S100, but to me there is a considerable difference between S90 and S100.

S100 is really a tremendous camera .....and the 10% USPS coupon discount for Best Buy make the 'price right'.....well worth a little gem IMO!!

Yes. I was close to pulling the trigger on a S95 when the S100 was announced. I need it for pocketability when I can't bring my DSLR. I waited until I saw some pics and opinions, and that, combined with the features sealed the deal. No regrets.

Sold my G12 to buy this. The S100 is closer to the G series than the S95.
Built-in 3 stop ND filter, wider angle, more zoom, GPS (I think is pretty cool, plenty of people here think its a gimmick, oh well, they dont have to buy one), 1/2000 shutter.
Plus S100 has a built in grip on the front/back, versus having to add the Franiec grip to the S95. I played with an S95 at Best Buy, a grip is necessary to me, so that adds another $35 to the price of the S95 for me.
In the end the S100 was easy to justify over S95.

I had a very beloved s90 which had captured many thousands of pix and memories, but disappeared mysteriously several weeks ago. I had resisted upgrading to the s95, but decided to upgrade to the s100 as soon as it was announced, and pass on the s90 to my wife (who is becoming evermore of an enthusiast)
So to fill the pocket camera gap until the s100, for a Fall trip into Canada, I bit the bullet and got one of the sale priced s95's at Best Buy. I now have a s100 which I like very much.
Since I now have had experience with all three models, I think I can say that I still like all three, each for a different reason. The s90 allows the most complete (traditional) manual control, the s95 offers more options while maintaining most of the s90's manual control, the s100 does even more thinking on it's own, but so far has (for me anyway) produced some amazingly good results at previously unthinkable ISO's.
The s100 also does have a couple of optional things like the GPS for travel pix, and some slo-mo video and burst options for studying and messing up my golf swing :-)

At the very least, the s100 deals with high ISO a lot better than the s95. Not to mention the extra equivalent stop to deal with for low-light. You get what you pay for. You may as well save an additional $100 and buy a used s90 for $225. There's barely any real difference between the s90 and s95.

Then you'll be waiting until the end of time.

Start looking at the G-series.

I've not heard of a 30% coupon, but here is the link to the 10%.

All I had to do was show my phone to the cashier and they keyed in the code for the discount.
