i dont think canon would be worried about people jumping ship there will always be people who leave and those who change to canon from nikon, canon knows many have to much invested for a complete switch

I think Canon went with an unusually long lead time here because: 1) They've hemorrhaged some pros to the dark side. 2) London Olympics are coming and they want to spark some excitement within the pro ranks that are still on board. 3) They want to try and re-convert those that may be on the fence. Doesn't Canon and Nikon introduce a new flagship camera before every Olympics?

Middle age is when you can finally afford the things that a young man could truly enjoy.
