hi all. i just sent my sigma 17-70 to c.r.i.s. for repair and was wondering what the turn-around time is to get it back, on average? it was making an evil clunk noise when powering the camera off, and while i've been told it's the camera's os powering down, it became more and more noisy, so it seems like it was more mechanical than anything else. so i'm just wondering about time frames from those who've sent lenses in for repair. thanks for your attention!

jeff

Jeff - in the FWIW department -- I sent in my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 OS on Oct. 17th. A few days later, I got an email and call with the repair estimate at which time they said it'd take about 2 weeks. I did check again this past Friday and it's supposed to ship early this next week. While I'm sure it depends on the type of repair, I'd allow for up to 2-3 weeks based on my one data point! Just make sure you keep an eye/ear out for their email/call as they won't proceed without your approval, unless maybe it's a warranty repair.

Tom, thanks for your info! mine is under warranty, but the site was pretty vague about time and process. it's been a week and i haven't received an email or a call yet, which is why i ask. i guess mine isn't the only lens they are working on.:p

again, thanks for your help!
