After they are all carved, just before dusk, they light them all up. Then my Brother-in-law "assists" the Judges in giving out awards for all the pumpkins that are entered ( stuff like "Best pumpkin w/ hair", "Best pumpkin w/ a crooked nose", you get the Idea... over the years friends of family have been invited too.
