Curious how often Cannon puts up their refurb stock on a promo like the one back in Aug. for 15%

Any idea?

The two this year were the first I'd seen in awhile.....I wouldn't count on one for awhile...I think the second one surprised a lot of people.

The rumor is that Canon will mark items "out of inventory" except for what they really want to clear, then offer the 15% discount. Sometimes they will bring the inventory numbers up a bit on particular items to reduce their counts, but in the end, they use this to clear out specific items and not their entire inventory across the board. Who knows if this is true or not, but I see it as a viable business tactic.

I don't know if that's true. When I picked up my 17-55mm, the 10-20mm, the 24-70mm, most of the 70-200's, and a bunch of other popular lenses were in stock. As would be expected, all of those lenses sold out very quickly - but they were available for a short while.

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.

Just because they showed out of stock doesn't necessarily mean they were, it just means that inventory numbers hit the thresholds established.

Possibly. It would have been interesting to note whether those lenses were immediately back in stock as soon as the sale ended.

From what I remember in the last sale, no, the lenses were not immediately back in stock.

FS: Nothing for now.
