This question may not be in the right section, but since this is a 1Ds2 thread.....I'm hoping someone can help.

I have a 1Ds2 and when I put my 580ex II on it everything works fine, until I change the flash to Manual. For some reason, when I change the flash to Manual it sets the shutter speed to 1/250 in Av mode. No matter which dial I turn, the SS stays at 1/250. The same thing for P mode, not that I use P, but maybe that information is helpful.

I would like to be able to use my flash in Av mode and not have the SS locked at 1/250, what do I need to do in order to correct this?

Thanks in advance!

Tyler

EDIT: After further investigation, here is what I am getting:

In ETTL mode on flash, no problems at all.

In Manual mode on flash:
Av Mode: SS locked at 1/250, aperture can be changed
P Mode: SS locked at 1/250, aperture locked at f/22
M Mode: SS can be changed, aperture can be changed
Tv Mode: SS can be changed, aperture locked at f/22

If I turn on HSS on the flash, the SS locks at 1/8000 on the camera when in Av mode.

Therefore, I took the 580ex II off my 1Ds2 and put it on my 40D, turned on the 40D and changed all the shooting modes....absolutely no issues with the 40D and Manual mode on the flash.

It's the way it is designed. Was changed in the 1D3.

The only way to use a flash in "M" with a 1D2(n) on Av (or P, should you want that for some reason I cannot fathom), is to connect the flash using a PC sync cord.

Was wondering about what kinds of settings you guys set in your 1Ds Mark II's?
And how difficult is it to get used to the controls of the camera? Especially coming from a consumer body like the 60D.?

Hi, I am new to this thread as I just got a 1ds2 not long.
Anyone use H ISO - 3200 under low light?
Is the noise level acceptable?
Any thoughts?
Many thanks

Some from a recent trip to Tennessee. Didn't have a tripod with me, so I did the best I could with the longer exposures.
