im about to buy a power pack for my two elinchroms (the tronix xt3 once it comes out) and was wondering what modifiers would be nice to have for automotive photography, i literally only have 2 softboxs. like i only have one of those metal cones that everyone has on there alienbees, its a silver one and came with my elinchroms but i have 2 lights and only 1 metal cone or whatever they are called.

I'm in the same boat as you, I was just using 2x 430ex's, but sometimes they just don't deliver enough light!

I've been looking at the same portable power pack as you! :D

a few so-so shots of my buddies Roush Mustang from tonight, i officially hate black cars and i continuously find new things about my photography that suck so with that im hopefully slowly advancing, but who knows. Finally had the right mind to snap a few setup shots as well..

Usually I would post a pic of the setup but I didn't take one because we got kicked out quick :(

Composite of two images. One image was shot with an AB1600 pointed at the rear quarter panel and door and another AB1600 pointed the passenger side headlight. The Second image involved one B1600 pointed at the far headlight.

I want to see an actual setup shot of this, maybe include both composite images? Looks great!

I had the lights set up like this most of the time:

IMAGE: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6106/6338664383_131272e006_b.jpg

Couple shots:

Threw the rig on the car and took this shot:

Then took a separate shot with the paint lit up, blended them together and an hour or so later came up with:

Oh, and another quicky shoot set-up:

I always wonder how fast people are driving with the rigs on; haven't looked into rig shots before o_O

They're generally getting pushed by a couple of guys, the car isn't even running (vibration can bork up the shot).

I've seen some where the cars are going about 60 mph and drifting though. That was one serious rig for that though.
