I'm sure out of the thousands of members on this forum, LOL, there are more members with Canon Rebel's, what kind of lens do you have on yours? I got the lens kit, which comes with a 18-55mm lens.. :) :)

1 Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI since Dec. 2007 with a 18-55mm lens and 55-250mm lens, been into photography for almost 8 years now.

I used to have the XTi (400D in UK). I swapped the kit lens for a sigma 17-70 (old model) and then for a 24/105L.
If I was swapping now I would get the 15/85 IS but it was not available when I bought the 24/105.
Hope that helps

Have been using the XTI for nearly 4 years. Currently have the kit lens, 70-300 IS and the 50 1.8. Next up is the 100-400 L. I got the 70-300 before the 55-250 was available. Although I'm very happy with the 70-300, I would have opted for the 55-250, had it been available, just based on price but everyone raves about that lens' quality too. Good luck with your next lens choice...I vote 55-250.

I use an XTi as a throw in the car camera. I have with it a 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS lens.
I think it's a pretty good setup, and still impresses me with the quality of the shots.

Used to have one with a 28-135 and 70-300. If I got L series lenses on it I would not have switched anytime soon to another body.

I own the XT, which is far superior because of its monochrome screen :p. Using a 17-40, 50 1.4, 70-200 2.8 IS II, 100 Macro, and who knows what else.

I also use an XTi as my light weight and compact kit. I updated the original 18-55 to an 18-55IS and added the 55-250 to my knock around kit. Still a fine camera.

Thanks everyone! You know, the funny thing is I'm actually thinking about getting the 55-250 lens and adding that to my Christmas list this year.. and saving for a 50mm lens on my own..

I've still got my XTI! It's the notorious one from the "XTI underexposes" thread!

Shoot--or used to shoot--everything from 10 to 400mm.

Got all the lenses in my gear list except the 135 before I upgraded.

Still shooting with my XTi. I use my 28-135mm as my walk around lens and I've started using my 70-300mm IS as my long lens. I upgraded my original kit lens to the IS version and I still use that from time to time.

Probably going to upgrade to a 7D next year.

I got most of my best photos with XTi and Tamron 17-50 non-VC.

What do you want to shoot ? This pretty much defines what you need.

If you do any indoors / low light / portrait shooting, before investing in any more lenses, I'd buy a good external flash (430 EX, or a good 3rd party ETTL compatible flash if the money is tight). This would give you the most bang for the buck.

If you do a lot of street photography / outdoors / sports / racing / zoo etc. I'd recommend a good tele (55-250 IS or 70-200 /f4 IS if you can afford it).

If you do a lot of available light portraits, a good fast prime is almost a must. Just pick the focal length that you are most comfortable with.

So it's up to you.

I have had my 400D+grip since 2007,great camera never had any probelms, 10mps are heaps for me,
I was quick to ditch the kit lenses and bought used Ef 28-135is, 24-35, 100-300 and70-210 USM items.
I use it as a light weight walk arround camera now with a Tamron 17-50 stuck on the front, great combo is this with a 420EX when required.

I used my 400D (as it is called in Europe) a lot with the standard 18-55 kitlens.
Soon I bought an 18-200 as a replacement walk-around lens.
Now I have a 70-200 F4 L lens attached to it.
Together with the hacked firmware (external link) it is still a joy to work with shooting soccer.
