Finally,I upgraded to DSLR (Entry level). I am an international student here in Finland, and so being friendly with my pocket i decided to go for Rebel XS. I am visiting Lapland for winter holidays, and other places so i really want a good lens.. Which can be the bestest lens for xs? 55-250? It has been my experience that the 18-55 IS that came with my XS is an excellent optic, so rather than buying another lens that duplicates these focal lengths, I'd be more inclined to do as you were suggesting and go with the 55-250. I've never shot with one (I owned a 70-210 EF and a 75-300 EF before I bought my XS), but by all accounts I've read, the 55-250 is a very nice lens. And it will dovetail perfectly with what you already have -- assuming you bought the camera/lens kit, of course. Michael

There is no perfect answer for your question. All EF lenses work with the XS - there aren't any issues about the XS that would mean a particular lens is better than another. The only thing that might affect a lens choice is the 1.6x crop factor (but that is not only the XS) - this means that a wide angle lens will not be as wide as it would be on a full-frame/film body. You need to buy lenses that work for what you want to photograph. If you like to shoot landscapes, look for something wide. If you like to shoot wildlife, look for a telephoto. Kevin
