The tape is because the screws on the hood are always backing out.

You could loctite the threads, ask for it at your local hardware store. Or put a dab of paint on the threads to stop them coming out.

If you use loctite, you may never get the screws back out

They make two types of lactate, one that's permanent, and one that's not. Just get the right one. You will be fine.

Typical chaos of my bag with the leopards:

Reading back a few pages, I notice some of you guys are using third party white lens hoods for your 70-200L 2.8 II. They look pretty cool, but are there any genuine benefits of using them? Obviously cheaper, but same construction as the Canon hood?

Also, any of you guys in London might be interested to know, ZSL London Zoo's new Asiatic lion cubs were let out today.

There are are different types of loctite for every application. You would want the light thread loc. I can't remember the number, but it's a blue colour.

Something you probably won't see on a Canon body very often:

Lester Dine 105 f2.8 macro lens (used for dentistry - Nikon mount with Canon adapter). No longer made and a little difficult to find in good shape. Fully manual. Love this lens!
