These were done for a client for her store that sells dresses and tuxedos.

A question out of sheer curiosity. As the guy who shot the images, do you think the BG is as bad as I'm thinking?

Deep octa with an Alien Bee 1600

The background was chosen by client, she saw it out of a magazine and wanted to have the same type of theme.
If it was obviously good enough for a magazine, then I don't see a problem with it.

Might have worked better if the subjects were 10' in front of the background so it would be more of a texture and less defined.

The background was probably only 9-10ft wide and she had low ceilings. I was kind of afraid to have all of the other sides showing if they were to stand in front of the background 10ft away.
The client wanted them right in front of it anyways. As long as she is happy, then so am I :)

The background does not fit. You should have used a black background. The dresses would be the eyecatcher. Now they don't catch up
