Yes, the new bottom plate -- which is called a "Multi Plate" (shown in the first photo in mtimber's post #346) -- is compatible with Manfrotto's RC2 QR system, as well as Arca-Swiss (when turned 90 degrees).

I ordered the Herringbone grip from this E-Bay seller (external link)and it came with the new Multi Plate, which works like a charm with my RC2 tripod heads.

Glen

Thanks for the info. Which one does it work in the normal orientation for? Arca-Swiss or RC2?

How does this strap compare to the canon E1? I have the E1 on my gripped 5D2 and love it, but I am trying to find solution for gripless 7D. How comfortable is it? From the looks, it seem harder (less comfortable) than the canon version. What does everyone love about this one other than the slick looks?

With the Herrignbone hand strap, can you shoot comfortably without putting your hand through the hand strap? With my Canon E1 handstrap, I frequently pick it up and just hold the camera with my hand outside of the hand strap, usually when I want to just grab it and take a shot. The Canon strap is comfortable enough and the leather is soft enough that there is no discomfort in grabbing it and shooting without putting my hand through the strap. The herringbone looks to be of thicker leather and might not be comfortable or possible to do this easily. What are your experiences with this?

Depends on how big your hands are I think. The padding and buckles add some bulk. It's also semi-slippery on the inner part of the padding. I wouldn't suggest holding outside of the strap, but I've done it before.

I hope it's ok to ask the question here... I'm thinking about purchasing the Herringbone Hand Strap. It seems like all the sellers on Ebay are in South Korea. When purchasing from the US are there any customs or import taxes/duties charged?

Thanks for any comments...

No issues. I have purchased the multi-plate from them, and I am MORE than pleased. Speedy shipping compared to china and hong kong shipping as well.

No taxes or duties and it arrived about 10 days earlier than I expected.

Anyone use this hand strap on a non-grip setup with a new plate and replace the screw with the T1 screw from Black Rapid to hang the body on the Black Rapid strap?

I tried using the manfrotto screw, however the loop was too large to fit into the channel. Maybe the herringbone screw might be too high. Someone can try though. I am using the little metal adapter from the Canon E1 hand strap to connect my neck strap to it.

I am using the herringbone multiplate with the canon E1 hand strap. however the strap length is a little short and it is a tight fit for my hands.

I am joining the club. Really impressed with their packaging and the look of the product. I feel like I am unwrapping a nice high end red-ring ... oh... red-stitch strap ;)
So far it feels very comfortable but I wont really know until Saturday when I will go and shoot all day.

I did not put the extra loop to attach a neck strap because I feel it might scratch the top screen. Anyone else feels like this, or am I the only crazy paranoid?

It does scratch the screen unfortunately depending on how you store it and how far away from the screen it is.

I moved mine further away from the screen as soon as I noticed it.

It's always hard to ensure that the hard moving parts of the strap does not abrade the sides of the camera or LCD screen.
