What are some of your thoughts on used gear like lens? I just got an incredible price on a L lens, but it was used condition rated at 9+. Comes with everything, but I have no idea of the history of the lens obviously. I have no idea if it will perform IQ wise, etc.

I'm quite nervous as hell, but at the same time excited. I also have 30 day money back guarantee so I guess that helps. Thoughts?

Ask for the date code, then google canon lens date code, then you can figure its age. I`m also looking for a used L series lens and due from what I`ve seen on here, they are all taken very good care of, probably due to their cost. Good luck in your search.

I wouldn't worry about it, you've got a 30 day return.

I've had great luck buying used on this forum. Sigmas (versus Canons) tend to be a better deal (as % of new price) though obviously that holds if you resell as well.

It's okay to buy used gear. If you're not a professional so why pay full price?

I have no problem buying used gear. If the seller provides photos of the lens and has good feedback, I will not hestitate to buy a used lens if the price is right. In the OP's case, there is no risk because of the 30 day guarantee.
