[Big K is a master of lighting] I didn't fear the ISO but I knew that if I screwed up the focus/dof, I'd have a whole batch of compromised photos. The shots were taken at a slam dunk contest that was part of a 3 day high school basketball tournament. The focus was set up for 42 inches and I wanted to have a large dof to keep the rim (very close) and player all in sharp focus. The images were shot with a 1D Mark III and I had confidence in the camera's ability to provide reasonable IQ at ISO 3200 (using a small aperture to maximize depth of field) with the quality of light available from the strobes (3 Alien Bee B800s) bounced off the white ceiling. ![]() Dual everything and I was still scared to death. . ![]() ![]() Focus and focal length rings gaffer taped to avoid accidental mis-adjustment. . ![]() very nice! At ISO 3200, f/8.0 and 42 inches, the dof runs from 31.5 to 63 inches. Fine for what I wanted to shoot. That's what I used. www.zivnuska.zenfolio.com/blog

Nov 27, 2011 19:13 | #37 Your backboard and rim may be more sturdy than the ones at my local high school. I can tell you that dual arms are far, far, far more sturdy than one arm. For me, if I couldn't use two arms, I wouldn't even try it. www.zivnuska.zenfolio.com/blog

Take a video with the camera all set up and then start really shaking the hoop and shooting balls at it. See what kind of shake you get. I might talk to one of coaches and see if I can come during a practice. I only had enough cash for one arm. My next paycheck should be in december and around the 20th... Glass: 8-15 f/4.0L | 16-35 f/2.8LmkII | 24-70 f/2.8L | 70-200 f/2.8L mkII | 100 f/2.8L Macro | 300 f/2.8LmkII
