He mentioned above here that the picture was taken through a glass window and the window was dirty...

Yes, but the smudge that is in the same place as the laptop dark circle really jumped out at me.

I looked at the white blob phenomenon. I know that every machine has it's quirks, every cam. And most times we grow to love them but what's the deal with sensor stuff in the last 2 years or so? Toby Keith should make a song. "We got white dots, black speckles, manufacturing stains and sensor overheating. Crammed sensor, lotsa pixels, and SLT mirror halation"

Maybe I missed it but wasnt the 20D, well, just a 20D? It just worked, at least for the first year or so or 5.

What dark circle are you referring to on the laptop? I think the white dot syndrome has gotten some peeps overly paranoid about other things with this camera. As I've only had it a day, more shots will be shared as soon as I get a chance. Haha and the window was pretty dirty btw, I'll get more outdoor/sky shots posted soon (and not taken through a window).

Thanks!

In the upper left hand corner of the laptop screen. Have the battery charging on mine and hoping for the best. :) Yes, WDS has gotten the better of me. The physical build quality is very nice though. The viewfinder is miles ahead of the G12. Very nice.

^^^The physical build is very solid but as with every new gadget, I handle it so gingerly haha.

TBH a lot of it is people just pixel peeping and measurebating as opposed to actually using their cameras for photography...

People complain the 7D has noise at low ISO for instance, I do not see it or complain about it in any of my pictures.... IQ has never quite been my biggest complaint with the 7D, The AF system has at times made me a bit frustrated however

I think the WDS problem is more than a "quirk"

Yeah it looks like as more people are getting their x10, we're hearing more and more about it. I still love the camera so I think if we all just keep submitting questions to Fuji about it, they may address it. If Fuji support sees the number of people submitting for the issue we may get a fix. It hasn't been out for too long so I'm willing to give Fuji a chance. Otherwise, owners may need to Occupy Fuji.

Word on the dpreview forums is that Fujifilm Japan is aware of the problem and they're working on a fix. Here's hoping! Thanks to Amazon's holiday return policy I can hold on to mine until Jan. 31st before returning it if a fix never materializes.

The new X10 was delivered last night just before I had to go out for a job. The battery had enough juice for me to play with it right away. Goofed around with a bit at work, and again today. Pretty happy with it. If you keep in mind the target market for this little guy (G12, P7100), the image quality is excellent. The colors are very natural and the film simulation modes are pretty good. I’ve been using the Velvia setting. Punchy. Much better than the G12 I had for a bit. Compared to a DLSR with good glass, the IQ is only very good. Handling? Big enough to put in your hands and actually use, small enough to fit in a car console, cup holder or jacket pocket. View finder is very usable, manual zoom ring freaking rocks! This thing is very well built, solid with smooth controls. The EXR modes go way beyond typical P&S or consumer DSLR gimmick features. They actually work and with excellent results. I really like the dynamic range priority mode. Very good macro ability.

Silky pic software can go in the trash heap... Needs third party RAW support, fast! What makes it livable is the .jpg images pretty much need nothing right out of the camera. I think this is going to fill my daily use needs very well.

A few random shots of nothing in general...

A macro of a valve I installed last night. ISO 400, f/2

Same settings, a touch of NR in post.

Quick grab out of my car window, ISO 800 in EXR "noise reduction" mode. It was full dark out, just those building lights.

F/4 ISO 100 EXR "dynamic range" mode.
IMAGE: http://lacks-focus.smugmug.com/Still-Life/Still-life-Landscapes/i-RkpcC4S/0/XL/DSCF0273-XL.jpg

Standard aperture priority mode. ISO 800, f/2.8 max zoom completely untouched, right out of the camera.

ISO 100 f/4. While definitely not a substitute for my 1D3, in high speed (it will do 10FPS) and continuous focus mode, it doesn’t suck!
