Well, actually this was... this is Monument Rocks in Kansas. Spent the last two days there, and had it all to myself - not one sole around for at least 50 miles in all directions.

That's a beautiful shot Todd!! Never done any starry stuff, but at 30 secs wouldn't there normally be movement?

30-40 seconds depending on focal length, which direction you're shooting, etc... theres a few variables involved, but less than 30is a good starting point, for sure.

Surprisingly there were still a few roses on the rose bushes despite it being in the high 40's (and December...).

30 second exposure with a blue LED wand waved behind the rose for a background and a couple pops from a 580ex II to light the rose itself.

Strands Beach?? If it is I've hit those rocks a few times surfing when they're underwater. Great shot.
